Google is now introducing a new smart feature in Pixel phones to make the AOD more functional and battery-saving. With this new update, the time, date, notifications, etc. would be displayed on the screen with minimal battery consumption.

What's New?

The smart AOD feature from Google utilizes artificial intelligence to track user habits. Keeping such user habits in mind, the AOD will intelligently switch on the display when the user is utilizing the phone or holding it and turn it off if the user is not using the phone. For example, this display will turn itself off automatically at night while one sleeps so that unnecessary battery is not wasted.

Great Step in Battery Saving

The AOD was always "on," consuming small battery amounts. The new smart AOD system has been designed to keep the display off as much as possible, thereby showing information only when required. This would, therefore, extend the battery life of the Pixel phones.

Ambient Sensing Technology to Control Brightness

This smart Always On Display will use Ambient Sensing technology to control the screen brightness through sensing the current light around the phone. This technology would be very user-friendly for the eyes, but at the same time, save battery. More specifically, in low-light scenarios, the brightness of the display would be lowered automatically.

Which Google Pixel Model Will it Come On?

Google has not yet given a complete list since it was not made public, but the assumption is that this will be coming to future Pixel phones, including Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Rumor has it that this feature will also hit the Pixel 7 series with its next software update.

Smart AOD, fitted in Pixel phones, brings a fine mixture of technology and ease of use. It has made the phone smarter and increased user comfort with long battery backup, adding to daily use. This is surely an important update for smartphone users to have.
