Users of the Google Pixel 6a smartphone have noticed a huge difference in battery performance after the latest software update since which is bundled in the July 2025 security patch by the company. Complaints have been lodged by consumers in applying this update, indicating that their batteries have drained faster than before.

Users Complain about the Battery Drain Issue
As reported in several posts on Reddit, Google support forum, and several social platforms, Pixel 6a users say that after installing the update, the screen time has been affected, and that the battery does not hold a charge for long. Earlier, one charge lasted almost all day, and now it requires charging twice daily.
What could be The Rationale for this?
According to experts, some background system processes have become overactive with this update, thus draining the battery. Some battery drain might also be due to a bug in the Google Play Services.
A few users, however, reported that some new features were launched after the update: the Adaptive Battery option was improved, but it did not save electricity.
Google's Stand on This
So far, so good, the company hasn't pronounced any official battery issue. However, the Support Team discussed that it has been monitoring the issue and working toward fixing it in a software update soon.

What Would Users Need to Do?
Some quick fixes for affected users are as follows:
Check the Battery Usage report for apps that might be using more battery
Adaptive Battery and Battery Saver are enabled
Background app refresh disabled
Keeping Play Services and other apps up to date
The Pixel 6a has quite a performance for a mid-range device; certain battery problems were encountered afterward with a software update in users. Let's hope it isn't very long before this gets fixed by the brand. Until then, the users need some patience while taking certain measures to keep managing their battery a little better.
