Xiaomi has broadened its smartphone range in India with the launch of Xiaomi Redmi 9 Activ in September 2021. The smartphone comes with a new colour variant and memory configuration. Xiaomi Redmi 9 Activ costs Rs. 9,499 for 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage variant while the 6 GB RAM + 128 GB internal storage variant price is Rs. 11,499. You can choose from three colour options - Carbon Black, Coral Green, and Metallic Purple.
Display
Xiaomi Redmi 9 Activ comes with a 6.53-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with support for a 20:9 aspect ratio and 269 PPI density. For a better screening experience, the smartphone comes with a bezel-less display that consists of a waterdrop notch design. The latter one houses a front camera which we will discuss later in the camera section! The dimensions of the smartphone are 164.9 mm x 77 mm x 9 mm with a weight of 194 g. Lastly, the smartphone comes with a splash-proof feature that protects it from small splashes of water, snow, and sweat.
Camera
To perform camera duties, the smartphone comes with a 5 MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.2. At the back, Xiaomi Redmi 9 Activ mobile has a dual-camera setup that comprises a 13 MP f/2.2, Wide Angle Primary Camera joined by a 2 MP f/2.4, Depth shooter. It also consists of a LED flash. The rear camera features are HDR, digital zoom, touch to focus, and face detection.
Performance
Under the hood, the smartphone carries the MediaTek Helio G35 processor paired with up to 4GB/6GB of RAM making it quite popular for the gaming experience. The processor consists of an octa-core Cortex A53 CPU and PowerVR GE8320 GPU. Xiaomi Redmi 9 Activ is based on MIUI that runs on Android v10 (Q). There is a Li-polymer 5000 mAh fueled in the device with a 10W fast charging support. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone gets 4G, 3G, 2G, IR blaster, Wi-Fi 802.11, USB Type-C port, Bluetooth v5.0, Mobile Hotspot, Dual-SIM connectivity, microSD card slot, A-GPS, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The fingerprint scanner is mounted on the rear side of the device for security purposes.

Looks and feels nice but design could be better
I just feel like the Activ version is not justifiable as it is not very cheap compared to really good phones from Xiaomi. This one looks a bit dated if you look at other phones. I will pick up the more expensive Xiaomi phones because this is a bit dated in my opinion. For under Rs. 10000, however, it works fine for people with less budget. Recommendable only if you're tight on budget.
