Huawei P50 Pocket 5G

After coming up with two tablet-style foldable in recent months, Huawei is yet again launched the clamshell foldable phone in China - Huawei P50 Pocket 5G. Although, it is not rolled out in India yet and is expected to launch in April 2022 with a price of around Rs. 1,06,290. The smartphone comes with unique features such as a high refresh rate foldable screen, a circular cover display, an array of cameras, a patent hinge design, and much more. Below, we study in detail the specifications and performance of this newly launched device. 

Design

The HarmonyOS based Huawei P50 Pocket 5G features a 6.9-inch FHD+ foldable AMOLED display with 1188 x 2790 pixel resolutions and a 21:9 aspect ratio. The device is capped at 439 PPI pixel density and 120Hz refresh rate which results in a clear and sharp screening experience. The cover display gets a 1.04-inch OLED display with 340 x 340 pixels and a 60Hz refresh rate. The smartphone also gets a bezel-less display that incorporates a punch-hole front camera as well. The display panel gets an anti-reflective layer on top that reduces reflection and glare up to 56%. As far as its dimensions are concerned, the device sizes 170 mm x 75.5 mm x 7.2 mm and weighs 190 g. 

Camera

To perform camera duties, the smartphone comes with a single 10.7 MP selfie camera. At the back, Huawei P50 Pocket 5G mobile has a triple-camera setup that comprises a 40MP f/1.79 aperture which is joined by a 13MP ultra-wide lens with f/2.2 aperture and 32 MP f/1.8 super spectrum sensor. The rear camera includes Huawei’s new Dual Matrix camera system, which is a combination of Huawei XD Optics, 10-channel multi-spectrum sensor, and XD Fusion Pro image engine. 

Performance

Powering the Huawei P50 Pocket 5G is Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset and Adreno 660 graphics, further coupled with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB in-built storage. It gets a Li-polymer 4000 mAh with a non-user-replaceable battery; it offers 40W supercharging. The processor features Octa-core Kryo 680 CPU and is based on EMUI custom UI. A few of the connectivity options include dual sim, 4G, 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth v5.2, Mobile Hotspot, A-GPS, NFC, and USB Type C. The device includes some other features such as a Side-mounted fingerprint reader, Face Unlock, and NM card support.
