The next flagship series of devices set to be launched by the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi will be Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max. Interestingly, "Xiaomi 16" is skipped; this means that the company will launch the 17th model straight away, which undoubtedly is intended for competing with the Apple iPhone 17 series.
Expected Time for Release and Plans of Xiaomi 17 Lineup
This series will officially launch in the secondary market, China, in 2025, specifically in September.
It will also have an international rollout sometime after the launch.
A top company official pointed out that they are going all out on advanced research and development (R&D) to ensure that for all the flagships, there are fewer "concern points"-meaning that there will not be the need to increase price, and there will be no gaps in the feature set.
Tech and Specifications
Most of these are not finalized as yet, but are arguably the most credible leaks and reports up until this point:
Processor: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5is possibly present in all models.
Design and Display: OLED display, possibly a 120Hz refresh rate; a 1.5K resolution could be required in the basic model.
Camera: It will feature a 50-megapixel main camera with ultra-wide and telephoto optics. Perhaps Leica branding as well.
Battery and Charging: It might feature approximately a 7000-mAh battery complemented with 100W wired fast charging capabilities and roughly 50W wireless charging.
Durability and Other Features: They are likely to have ratings of IP68 and IP69 for showerproof and dustproof characteristics. The fingerprint scanner will be an under-display optical or ultrasonic scanner.
Software and Interface: It may opt for HyperOS 3, which would be based on Android 16.
What is New and Exciting
There could be a minor back display for the Pro or Pro Max called the Magic Back Screen, which might serve as notifications or a selfie viewfinder. Such will function as a rear display and not merely ornamental.
The camera module may be slightly "outdoor style", interesting looking, and close to the iPhone 17 camera module design, but presented differently by Xiaomi.
What is Still Unknown
There have been some discrepancies heard regarding the availability of specifications as to whether these are changing for the global variant or for other markets; however, final information has not been found.
Charging speed wireless, limits of functionality of rear display, etc, are still unspecified.
Going to branch out into the flagship series with improved performance, camera, battery, and design, with a clear intention to head-on against the iPhone 17 series. Given all the leaks, gossip, and rumors already, this is one series that will probably end up seeing more change or confirmations before the official announcement.
