Aleister Black, who looked to be having a very impressive career lying ahead of himself in WWE, was surprisingly released back in 2021, leaving a large number of WWE fans really unhappy. He was one of the top stars of NXT during his run with the developmental territory of the promotion.

He was having a solid mid card run after joining the main roster, and everything was looking quite sharp for him. After he left WWE in 2021, he joined AEW and worked under a new ring name, Malakai Black. He played a similar dark character in AEW, much like his WWE character.

Aleister Black explains why he did not like his NXT debut

Black made his NXT debut back in 2017 at the NXT Takeover Orlando event. His special entrance instantly made a place in the hearts of the fans. But recently, Black claimed that he never liked his NXT debut. While speaking on the “Wrestling the Rap Game” podcast, the former NXT Champion explained the following;

Aleister Black made his WWE debut in 2017 and was released from the promotion in 2021

“First and foremost, I did not like that match. The production of how we went into it was wrong, and because of that, the match didn’t come out the way it should have come out. I was physically ill at the time, that’s also why when I look back, I’m just not in shape.”

Aleister Black returned to WWE on SmackDown after WrestleMania 41 episode

“Anxiety is the word, I was terrified, absolutely petrified and it’s crazy because I’ve already wrestled at this point in front of 5,000 people, 6,000 people, 8,000 people in France … but because it was WWE I was like, ‘Oh God, oh God, oh God, oh God’ … that was one of those things that I always kind of look back and was like, man I wish it would have been better. It was nerve-wracking, it was an incredible experience, it was humbling.”

Aleister Black made his return to WWE on Smackdown after WrestleMania 41 episode, and he is presently having a feud with former two times WWE world champion The Miz. He has always been a personal favourite of Triple H, and we can't expect him to have an excellent run in the main roster, and there are also expectations to see him winning some championships.
