The theory that The Attitude Era was the best time period in WWE history is pretty common on the internet. The time period definitely produced from the biggest names in the history of professional wrestling like Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock, there was something that is truly awful during the Attitude Era.

The women's division in the mentioned time period was quite bad. It was the time when women were nothing but objects for WWE. The previous time, the Golden Era, and even the early New Gen Era also managed the women's division better than The Attitude Era. The promotion was trying to revamp their women's division during the time, but mostly by objectifying women.

WWE Hall of Famer Reveals Who Made The Decision To Push Sable Over Sunny During The Attitude Era

Two of the top names of women's division during the early Attitude Era were Sunny and Sable. Both started their careers as valets, but Sable started working in the ring soon whereas Sunny never worked as a wrestler. WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross reveals that Vince Russo always favoured Sable over Sunny and he also pushed Sable as the top star in stead of Sunny.

“The rivalry between [Vince] Russo and [Jim] Cornette was very prominent, very real." Jim Ross said on his “Grilling JR” podcast, "And Russo picked the right horse, because Sable was a moneymaker as far as T-shirts, getting good quality TV time, there was low maintenance that was easy to pull off.

Sable is a former WWE Women's Champion

"So it was bad, it was bad. And you got jealousy, egocentric behavior. And the other thing that Sable was not high maintenance at that point in time. She eventually became a little bit higher maintenance, no doubt.

“But it was just tough, man. Because it became a personal issue. The rivalry between Russo and Cornette was built up behind the scenes. And you know, Russo threw his lot in for Sable, she got a lot more opportunities. And they’re all simple things to execute. You know her deal was her body.

Sable

Sable is the wife of WWE Legend of Brock Lesnar

"She just had great sex appeal and an amazing look. I remember when we brought in Mark Mero and Sable just came as his wife to a meeting with Vince and I. And I remember when they left, Vince said, ‘Well, did you see who the star was to that group.’ And I said, ‘Yeah, it’s not Mark Mero.’ Nice guy, but Sable was a star. Much like Sunny was the star of the Bodydonnas.”

There is a theory among the fans that Sunny was jealous of Rena Marlette Sable since she was more successful than her. Slowly, Sunny was erased from WWE and the women's division started to revolve more around Rena and Jacqueline, as both of them went on to become Women's Champion. Sunny on the other hand had a terrible life after WWE, and presently, she is suffering in jail.
