Vivo, the Chinese smartphone maker, is all set to launch its next-gen foldable smartphones, the Vivo X Fold 2 and X Flip, on April 20. However, just a few days ahead of the launch, specifications of these two upcoming devices have been leaked online.
According to the leaks, the Vivo X Fold 2 will feature an 8.01-inch inward-folding display with a resolution of 2200 x 2480 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. The device is rumored to come with a triple camera setup on the back, which will include a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 13-megapixel telephoto lens. It will also have a 32-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. Additionally, the phone is expected to pack a 4,500mAh battery with support for 55W fast charging.
On the other hand, the Vivo X Flip is expected to come with a 6.44-inch primary display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a secondary 1.1-inch AMOLED display for notifications. The phone is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. The device is rumored to feature a dual-camera setup on the back, consisting of a 64-megapixel primary sensor and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide lens. It will also have a 32-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. Additionally, the phone is expected to pack a 3,500mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging.
Both devices will reportedly run on Android 11-based Origin OS and come with support for 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC. They will also come equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor and face recognition technology for added security.
However, the pricing of these two devices is still unknown. It is expected that the company will reveal the pricing details during the official launch event on April 20.
The launch of Vivo's new foldable smartphones is expected to give tough competition to other foldable devices in the market such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the Motorola Razr 5G.
