The Undertaker vs. Goldberg is arguably one of the worst matches in professional wrestling history. The match could have easily gone to the worst worked match of the year on Dave Meltzer’s list only if the infamous Hell in a Cell match between Seth Rollins and The Fiend was not on the same year (we are not a big fan of Dave Meltzer though).

But was it really Goldberg’s fault as fans say it is? Yes, there were tons of botches made by the former two times WWE Universal Champion, he could have almost paralyzed Undertaker with that botched Jackhammer. But we think there is no reason to condemn Goldberg for this.

Undertaker vs. Goldberg From Super Showdown 2019 – Full Analysis

If somebody has to be blamed that is WWE. Firstly, they were fifteen years late to book this dream match, and now they are booking it when they clearly know none of them are in their best shape, just to make some cheap money out of it.

They always did terrible things for these Saudi Arabian shows when they knew they are going to get terrible responses from worldwide. The only thing they care about is making money, not what the fans feel or anything like that.

Undertaker was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2022

And speaking of Goldberg, people often say that he is too dangerous to be in the ring with, as an example, the incident of Bret Hart is shown. Well how many times do they mention how Seth Rollins almost killed Sting’s career, Rollins was responsible Finn Balor’s injury too. Kane’s botch killed Daniel Bryan's career, almost. So Goldberg should not be blamed for this reason, and do they even know a dropkick on the back from Rey Mysterio killed Perro Aguayo Jr.?

This is pro wrestling, there is always a risk of picking up serious injuries. For these reasons, no one should be blamed, nobody intentionally cause injury to anyone.

Undertaker Goldberg

Goldberg vs. Undertaker took place in Super Showdown 2019 event

About the main topic, one might argue why would Goldberg agree to be in the match when he knew he was not fit enough. First of all, Undertaker vs. Goldberg is a dream match, like DX vs. The Brothers of Destruction was. Why would any wrestler want to turn down such a huge opportunity to get involved in a dream match? Not from any angle, we see any reason to blame Goldberg.

If somebody has to be blamed for that night it is WWE itself. We hope WWE stops booking these type of matches just to make some money. Give them quality matches rather than building dream matches that fans wanted to see twenty years ago. We hope Taker vs. Goldberg at Super Showdown 2019 never happened.
