If somebody has to be named for one of the most unfortunate careers in WWE history, one name that will definitely come up is Mustafa Ali. He had a seven year long WWE career and he had been scheduled to get a number of main event runs including a potential World title win, but ultimately, nothing succeeded for him.

He was even planned to be the opponent of Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35 for the WWE Championship but an unwanted injury saw him getting replaced by Kofi Kingston and as a result, we got the excellent KofiMania. His Retribution faction was scheduled for something big too but it did not succeed either.

Shocking! What Happened 5 Minutes After The Release of Mustafa Ali?

Ali revealed himself recently that he was booked to win the NXT North American Championship just before his release but it did not happen either. Ultimately, his relationship with the promotion ended in September 2023. Ali recently spoke to the “2 Bears, 1 Cave” podcast where he revealed what happened 5 minutes after his release;

Mustafa Ali spent six years in WWE

“From the pro wrestler’s standpoint, I always go out there with the idea that they’ve never seen me before. I need them to know right out of the gate, ‘Okay, this is who he is…our wise men who help put the show together, when they say something like, ‘Hey, there’s a lot of new eyeballs out there.’

Mustafa Ali left WWE in September 2023

“This will be one of those situations where it really is. Really, truly is. And you have the chance to hook them. There’s such a carny element to how pro wrestling used to be, in terms of reeling in a mark for something to watch. Now the audience is so sophisticated…You can’t just hook them. You can’t be cheap. You have to actually see someone authentically that they like, and then hopefully they stay on board.”

Ali could have been really big if pushed properly in WWE but things never worked for him. He also had a short TNA run after his WWE release and presently he is active on the independent circuit. The fans still believe that he will come back to WWE one day and will finish his story.
