In February 2025, Huawei made a tri-fold Mate XT. Now it's the turn of Samsung, as per rumor. The company is bringing their tri-fold phone for the very first time. And possibly it will be named as Galaxy G Fold and will be unveiled at the end of 2025. This tri-fold could be a breakthrough and decide whether this new model will be a part of regular smartphones or will be a failed project.
Samsung Galaxy G Fold: What We Know About This Flagship
The handset could feature a 9.9-inch screen, as the rumor says. Maybe it will feature a 6.5-inch external display when fully unfolded. Users can use the screen for simple tasks like making calls or texting. Samsung’s handset will differ from Mate XT and will cost more in many parts, but the inner screen area will be protected, as the rumor said, “ I’d expect Samsung to leverage as much as it can to keep entry-level prices below the $3,000 mark.”
This is also not certain that this flagship will be named the Samsung Galaxy G Fold. in the year of 2023, the concept of the tri-fold series was shown by Samsung. And they labeled the devices Flex S and Flex G. So, there is a chance that the new device will be labeled as the Galaxy Z lineup.
And the more uncertain thing is the pricing of the device. It could be expensive than the $1900 Z Fold 6. The Mate XT costs 3499 Euro, so we can expect that Samsung can keep this cost below $3000.
Will The Flagship Matter So Much?
Huawei has an international reach, but it's mostly focused on the native Chinese market. And its products are restricted in a few countries. Whereas Samsung has a global market for business, including the U.S, but I think that the new flagship from Samsung Galaxy G Fold could be the first tri-fold for many people, as we don't have a certain idea for tri-fold handsets. If the price of the handset remains under $3000, it will be the first real attempt at a market of tri-fold handsets.
The biggest part is durability. Because of its designs. There could be no IP rating for dust and water resistance. Whereas the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 has water and dust resistance. Many unfolded handsets sport an IP67 or IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
Do the Tri-Fold, Samsung Galaxy G Fold Is Needed?
A tablet-sized screen is not needed for texting or making calls. So the small screen can do the simple task, and the big screen will let you enjoy videos or movies. If the company Samsung can down the price and up the durability,y many people will try this. Samsung is the only company that is capable of featuring new form factors.
