Rey Mysterio is arguably the best luchador that has ever worked in WWE and he is also the most successful luchador in WWE history. Having won the WWE World Championship 3 times in total, the 50 year old is one of the most influential names in WWE history. He is still going pretty strong in the promotion.
Recently the WWE Hall of Famer shared the Ring with the newest luchador member of the WWE roster, Penta. The Mexican professional wrestler made his WWE debut on the very next episode of RAW after the Netflix Premiere. He had been booked pretty strongly since and he was also portrayed as the Iron Man of this year’s men's Royal Rumble match.

He was entry no. 2 in the Royal Rumble match of 2025 and he squared off with one of the best in the business, Rey Mysterio. We are yet to see a proper one on one match between this iconic duo, but we can definitely expect to see it in the future. Mysterio recently spoke on his experience of sharing the ring with Penta. Speaking with the “Unlikely” podcast, the WWE Hall of Fame explained;

“It was intense. It was a really special moment. Not only for us, but for Lucha Libre itself. For our people that we represent. The fact that after 40-plus years, the first Royal Rumble kicks off with two Mexicans, I get chills just thinking about it.

'It was a very special moment. Andrade came in after, Santos Escobar came in as well. Within the first eight minutes, you had five Latinos going at it, which is cool representation of Lucha Libre.” said the former three times WWE World Champion.
Reports suggest that WWE has big plans for Penta and he may even be promoted as a top star in the future. Presently we can expect him to see getting a strong mid card treatment, and we can also expect him to win some mid card Championships. As of now, we cannot expect him to get an instant main event push.
