Oba Femi Remembers His NXT North American Title Drop And Explains How it Affected Him

Unlike the NXT under Triple H, the present NXT is completely focusing on growing younger talents and so far they have done an excellent job under ‘The Heart Break Kid’ Shawn Michaels. Finally, NXT is being treated as a developmental territory of WWE and not a third brand like it was under Triple H’s reign.

The NXT has promoted some excellent stars so far. Some of them are already doing quite well on the main roster, Carmelo Hayes is one of the biggest examples of it. Presently, it has an even stronger roster than ever and all the talents that are presently active in the NXT have all the potential to be top stars of the main event in the future.

Oba Femi Remembers His NXT North American Title Drop And Explains How It Affected Him

One such talent who is doing an amazing job in the NXT is Oba Femi. He was given a proper build up as he had a 273 days of NXT North American title reign before becoming a proper main eventer recently. Femi recently spoke on "The Rich Eisen Show" where he discussed his North American title loss last October. He said;

Oba Femi dropped the NXT North American Championship to Tony D'Angelo

"We had the first match and people realized we were going into a second one, and possibly a third one, some people were like, 'No, I don't want to see Oba lose to Tony,'" Femi started. "But when we did everything right and the big giant finally comes falling down, there's no more satisfying feeling for the fans.

He continued, “Even me, too. That's the point of all the victories I get. I strongly believe that the point of all this dominance is eventually lose to someone when it matters the most, and do something for them too."

Oba Femi defeated Trick Williams to win the NXT Championship recently

"When you do what brought you to the dance in the first place, you dance and you soar and you break records and you do all these amazing things that you never thought you would do," concluded the present NXT Champion.

Oba Femi defeated Trick Williams at the NXT: New Year's Evil by ending his 98 day NXT title reign and he won his first NXT Championship. Femi received a very strong booking throughout his NXT career and it is widely believed that the 26 year old will have a strong run as the NXT Champion. Hopefully, Femi will be a huge success in the main roster.
