Recently opened on the Deutsche Bahn test track from Nokia, 5G Standalone (SA)-truly an evolution as the latest mobile network giants add another link towards what will be an open gateway to the digital transformation of railway communications systems in Europe.

5G SA Network
5G SA or Standalone would simply be standard performance mode, independent, and fully replacing 4 G. The entire new core is entirely new, built on new core networks. Links are added-very high-speed and reliable links-through which end-device-consumer delay can be relatively low. It reduces rail travel to a much safer mode with better security, efficiency improvement, and intelligent transport in the rail transport system.
Smart Rail Continues to Move Deutsche Bahn
The Deutsche Bahn is already known to be driving forward towards one of the most modern rail networks in Europe. Exactly from that project is what this achievement was all about; thus, the Nokia 5G SA network deployment on that stretch is much closer. These further enhancements on the test track will all subsequently be able to carry those functions on this network in train positioning, traffic management, real-time communication, and automated control systems.
Nokia Technical Contribution
Nokia has applied its state-of-the-art AirScale 5G SA radio and cloud-native core in this project. This not only guarantees that data will be transported very quickly but also constructs a very strong foundation that should serve in future autonomous rail systems.

Future Railway Communications
This is going to turn toward an automated train operations system of the Deutsche Bahn, smart stations, signalling with superior standards, and advanced digital services integrated with it for the very passengers. All these improvements are going to influence not only rail communication but also the whole experience for passengers.
It is a typical case in point, showing how a smart rail system is being built on 5G technology by Nokia and Deutsche Bahn. This model can be used by any other country in the future, and these advances in technology will soon make our communication system safe, modern, and sustainable.
