Nintendo is still one of the biggest deals in the world of video games, as for the last 4 decades, they have dominated this business. The gamers always envy them for saving the dying video game industry back in the 1980s, and their contributions can never be overlooked.
From the very early days of video games, physical games have been the biggest companions of the consoles. Not only playing games, but a lot of gamers love to collect video game cartridges and DVDs. Collecting physical copies is also a huge hobby for a lot of gamers.
Nintendo claims physical copies of video games will always be relevant
But after the arrival of digital games, a lot of gamers have started to believe that physical copies are a thing of yesterday and soon they are will be no value in these physical copies. However, the president of Nintendo of America, Doug Bowser, claimed that physical copies will always remain very important. Speaking with IGN recently, he explained;
The company has dominated the video game market for the last 4 decades
"In the immediate future, physical games are still a key part of our business. And we value our relationships in particular with our retailers, and want to make sure we have products available for them to sell to their consumers.
"When you look at Game-Key Cards, for us, our goal with Nintendo Switch 2 – similar to what we were able to accomplish on Nintendo Switch – is to have the broadest and deepest library of content we possibly can. And that includes our publishing partners.

"And Game-Key Cards are a way that our publishing partners are able to bring more content onto the platform, deeper and larger, more immersive content on the platform."

On the latest consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, Sony and Microsoft have released digital only consoles, but the physical consoles are also available in the market. There were rumours earlier that physical copies would be a thing of the past in the future, but that will never happen because the collectability of physical copies will never go backdated.
