At its global event tonight, Motorola finally unveiled its flagship smartphone globally - as well as for the Indian market - the Motorola Edge 30 Pro. It’s mostly based on the Motorola Edge X30, which the brand launched in China earlier as the world’s first smartphone to feature the snappy Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset.
Well, the good news is, the Edge 30 Pro also packs the new and snappy Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset from Qualcomm, although it remains to be seen if it’s better optimised for the global version. It is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The global versions do get up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB storage versions, but the Indian variant is currently limited to just one version.
At the front, the flagship smartphone from Motorola packs a 6.7-inch pOLED panel with a refresh rate of 144Hz, and it supports HDR+ and is adapted to the DCI-P3 colour gamut. It also gets stylus support, which is available as an additional accessory with a folio case.
Besides that, the phone gets an industry-first 60MP selfie shooter neatly tucked inside a hole-punch cutout up top at the centre. At the back is a triple camera setup, comprising a 50MP main shooter working alongside a second 50MP lens for ultra-wide shots and a 2MP depth camera.
On top of that, the phone gets a sizeable 4,800 mAh battery pack with support for up to 68W TurboPower charging, the fastest-ever for Motorola. Thankfully, Motorola is shipping the 68W brick inside the box. It also supports up to 15W wireless charging along with up to 5W reverse wireless power sharing. Lastly, the phone runs on Android 12 with no bloatware or pre-customised skins on top.
As for its availability, the phone will be available online starting March 4, 2022. However, leading retail outlets will start pre-orders for the smartphones starting February 25, 2022 with deliveries to begin from March 4, 2022. The Motorola Edge 30 Pro price in India is set at Rs. 49,999, and it’s available in just one 8GB+128GB variant in two colour options - Cosmos Blue and Stardust White.
