In 2009, WWE started organizing gimmick pay per view events. The Extreme Rules can be considered the first gimmick WWE event of this trend which was the following up event for WrestleMania XXVI. In October, they came out with a bigger gimmick event named Hell in a Cell which continued until 2022.

One of the gimmick events that was introduced during this time was TLC. This event featured matches like Ladder matches, Chair matches, Table matches, and even TLC matches. The women in WWE were addressed as Divas during that time and they also had some excellent gimmick matches as parts of these events.

Michelle McCool Remembers The First Ever Women’s Tables Match, “I Was Proud of That Tables Match”

In TLC 2010, WWE booked the first ever women’s Tables match. It was a tag team match where Beth Phoenix and Natalya teamed up to take on the evil side of LayCool. Michelle McCool, who was a part of LayCool and created history that night remembered this historic match while speaking on "Insight With Chris Van Vliet" recently. She said;

Michelle McCool is a four times WWE Women’s/Divas Champion

"I was proud of that Tables match. It was not only the first, it was fun. Earlier in the day we were walking up the ramp, and I remember somebody saying 'Surely, the table is fine, it's gonna break. There's two of them, right? There's Layla and Michelle, yeah, no problem.' That sucker did not break.

Michelle McCool will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in the class of 2025

“Table would not put us over. They didn't like us either. So we hit it and I'm like, 'Oh gosh.' I look back up and we're like 'Nattie climb back up.' And it couldn't have turned off better with her going back up for the second time. But yeah, that was a big moment." Concluded the former four times Champion.

Michelle McCool and Layla used to work regularly as a team during the PG Era of WWE and together they were famously known as LayCool. This team could have been an excellent fit for today’s WWE and it could also be a great addition to the lackluster women’s tag team division of WWE. It was announced recently and McCool will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame soon.
