Meta has launched more new updates, and the updates are, for the most part, targeted at securing teens on two types of accounts- Teen accounts (ages 13-17) and Non-Judgmental accounts for puffing with photo and video posting for small kids.

New Features for Teen Accounts Launched by Meta

DM Safety Tip: when a teen is starting a conversation with someone new, safety tips are shown; when the account is created (month and year) is displayed, so they can spot potential scammers' profiles.

Block & Report combined: No more than one tap to block and report an account, a newly simplified reporting process so that more people can be encouraged to do it.

Safety Notices & Location Notices by Meta: Ever since Safety Notices were launched in June, over 1 million accounts have been blocked and reported by teens. Location Notices were viewed a million times, and only 10% of users clicked to read the warning information.

Nudity Protection: Protection against inadvertent nudity-on by default for teens. 99% users had it switched on, and up to 40% of blurred images were left in a current blurred state, thus reducing the desire to forward by 45%

Security modernization by Meta for accounts managed by non-judgmental adults.

Accounts exposing child content (under 13) shall now bear the same rigorous DM settings as the Teen Accounts.

Hidden Words will be activated, automatically filtering all abusive or obscene comments.

Suspicious adults or Blocked History people will not be able to find; Recommendation and Search visibility is restricted.

Block adults suspected of bad behaviour through DM controls, allowing only for the recommendation and search option limited visibility. Account managers will receive a notification to update their Safety Settings, thus prompting them to review their privacy.

Enforcement Action & Statistics

To date, nearly 135,000 Instagram accounts: 135,000 taken down for solicitation of child-related content, comments, or images; additionally, 500,000 accounts have been removed from both Facebook and Instagram. Why Is This Important?

Prevention directly against scams and predatory behaviour: Safety Tips, Location Notice, showing creation date-these all serve to inform teens and to guide them into a position from where they are able to quickly take the next step.

For Parent-Take Creator-run child accounts: An enormous amount of content posted on behalf of unpaid parents or talent managers-Definite new security measures were necessary to hold predatory adult actions in check.

Meta has been, worldwide, increasingly held liable-they were recently besieged by state lawsuits in regard to teenagers' emotional and digital safety. These updates seek to meaningfully address that pressure.

The new features purposely increase safety and vigilance for teens on Instagram, especially in direct messaging and areas for children, while also enabling content creation and parents to coordinate to prevent predatory conduct and act fast toward reporting
