Mafia remained one of the biggest franchises in the history of video games. Despite not releasing much titles in the series the game remained one of the fan favourite throughout these years. There had been only three mainline entries in this series.
The first part of the Mafia series was released back in August 2002 and it focused on an open world environment. The game was a little bit similar to the earlier release GTA 3 but it followed a strong storyline and the story of Mafia 1 still remains one of the best stories ever told in video game history.
Mafia 4: Big Update on The Upcoming Video Game
The fans of the first Mafia game series had to wait for 8 long years to get another instalment as the second part of the series got released in 2010 by the name of Mafia II. This game was set in the time of World War II and the storyline was also fantastic here. It was a completely difference story from the first part of the Mafia but there were some Easter eggs from the first part.
Mafia 4 is Coming Out in 2025
After the two excellent releases, the fans where desperately waiting for the third instalment of the series. In 2016, 2K came out with the third instalment of the beloved Series by the name Mafia III. But this time the fans had to be disappointed and the game could not match the level of its first two predecessors.
Mafia 4 is Expected to Follow a New Storyline
Ultimately Mafia III was a failure and it looks like the franchise may die after this poor release. In 2020, 2K released Mafia Definitive Edition which was a remake of the first game which was released in 2002. The game focused on up to date graphics but somehow it could not match the level of his first counter part. Most importantly, the challenging difficulty of the first game was totally missing from the definitive edition.
In August 2024, 2K finally made the announcement of the upcoming release of the 4th instalment of the beloved Mafia series. Mafia 4 is said to release on Q3 of 2025 and the game will follow similar pattern from is its previous counter parts. We hope Mafia 4 can reignite the series as the third part completely killed the fire.
