As of now, in iOS 17, the feature allows anyone to set up custom backgrounds for messages generated on iMessage. In this case, whenever someone from your contact list messages you, he/she can set a background that you might not like. Many would like to ask, "How can one stop others from changing the background for messages on the iPhone in this situation?"

The Full Guide to This Solution Goes from Here

How To Stop Block Background Messages Step By Step (for iOS 17 and later):

Go To Settings:
From your iPhone home screen, open the Settings app.

Select Messages:
Next, scroll down and find the Messages option and click on it.

Disable The Shared with You Option

Whenever any content is sent to you with a link, image, or custom style, that content appears automatically under "Shared with You." To deactivate it, follow the steps below:

From the Messages settings, go to the Shared with You section.

From here, toggle off the apps or contacts you do not want to receive content from.

Set Focus Mode:
You could use the Focus Mode introduced in iOS 17 to block customizations coming from selected contacts or apps.

Settings > Focus > Select a Focus "Do Not Disturb" > People

From here, you can choose who can send you notifications.

Disable Effects from contact info (if it even exists) for iOS 26

This feature may soon be introduced by the App, which, if available, will allow the user to prevent Message Effects for specific contacts. It is not available at this time, and said settings will be disabled once an update rolls out.

Indeed, sometimes, the new features seem equally fascinating and annoying. Switch off these settings for either the custom background or the animated effects, and give yourself an entirely personalized and pleasant messaging experience.
