Well, professionals in sound complemented the pathetic iOS 26 with tweaks associated with these settings to add more life into my old phone after the change.

Most of us realized, and myself too, quite soon, almost immediately after downloading iOS 26, that battery drain occurred pretty fast-perhaps even in a few minutes of heavy usage. However, tweaking a couple of settings and going through another way of changing a number of them has given me a much improved life of the machine now almost nearing new. Below is a list of tweaks and changes one can recommend to keep pace with your old iPhone battery.

Apple iPhone iOS 26

Disable Background App Refresh

Most apps do continue to function in the background with ios26, resulting in draining battery hours. Go to Settings -> General - Background App Refresh.** Disable everything that doesn't concern you from it, and the savings on the battery are considerable.

Set Limits on Location Access

There are applications that always want to use your location; they suck your battery. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.

From there, edit the apps to "While Using'' or "Never." ESPECIALLY the social networking ones and those for ecommerce.

Turn off the Always-on Display or AO

It looks good on the iPhone model but does drain the battery all by itself. For more convenience, tap on Settings → Display & Brightness → Always On Display.

Go for 5G Auto

Having 5G always ON on the device takes battery life with it. Go to Settings → Cellular => Voice & Data => 5G Auto, select it, as the feature will switch automatically between the 4G and 5 networks saving your battery.

Turn off unnecessary things under System Services

Some have location-based System Services always active.

Example, go to: Settings → Privacy → Location Services → System Services

Proceed by turning off Location-Based Suggestions, Product Improvement, Analytics and so on.

Switch On Low Power Mode (When Necessary) on iOS 26

One improvement with Low Power mode is that it turns out to be a lifesaver when you need to spend a whole day outside, doubling your iPhone's battery time.

Settings → Battery → Low Power Mode.

IOS 26 2

Conclusion

Those settings alone improved iPhone battery power by a great margin. Before this, it could not survive a day under iOS 26, now it lasts an entire day without me worrying that I'd have to charge it.

Regarding my battery, anyone with battery issues under iOS 26 I would advise to koptry out these tips because it might be really spectacularly dramatic for the battery.
