It has regained glory after four years; Huawei is on top of the Chinese smartphone market. So said IDC, the International Data Corporation. This event should mean much not only for Huawei, but also for the whole Chinese tech industry.

How Did Huawei Make It to The Top?
For the last years, it has been under the pressure of US sanctions from foreign and local markets. Last year, however, these guys came up with a big bang with their Mate 60 series, thanks to the use of a 5G-supported chipset, the Kirin 9000s, made by their own technology in China.
IDC Numbers Available According to the IDC Report
The most supplied smartphones were from this brand, which grabbed the top spot in China for the second quarter (Q2) of 2025. Around 17.5 percent market share is in promotion over Vivo and Honor, contrasting with the likes of Apple and Xiaomi.
Apple and Others Lost Standing Positions
From first place to fourth place now stands the position of Apple in China, which it held in 2024. The sales figures for iPhones also fall because tensions between the US and China have not eased. Meanwhile, Vivo and Honor take up second and third places, respectively, while Xiaomi, a little behind, still remains a strong competitor against the others in the midrange segment.

Future Plans of Huawei
On the part of hardware side, it would also want to put more emphasis on software and chip development. In maturity, HarmonyOS is on its way to developing a serious alternative to Google's Android within the borders of the Chinese mainland. This brand, too, has progressed very far in developing its chip, named Kirin.
The return of Huawei is one such example of how China-based technology companies challenge the international world at best. Too much difference than merely being a gadget victory, this is also an incredible instance of China's self-reliance in technology. Only time will tell how it will perform in the global market in the future, though certainly, the hold of this company in the Chinese market is big news within the tech world.
