Recent reports suggest that Meta's ambitions for its Horizon OS might be bigger than what is currently known. This OS was believed to be only for XR devices and might also be opened for third-party hardware manufacturers; however, that is mere speculation. Should this happen, Horizon OS would set the stage for having an ecosystem for itself for the purposes of XR platforms powered by applications, content, and fast developer support to counter the entire XR.
Galaxy XR Where The Competition is Getting Tougher
If indeed there is a XR device born into the world by Samsung, it needs to be mainly provided with strong support on the hardware side, but basically, it needs strong support through software and content. Once in, this XR will benefit from incredible synergies with a well-swept Galaxy ecosystem-integrated smartphones, tablets, and wearables. The future route for XR will depend a lot on whether it has succeeded in giving the relevant software experience with content that goes with real user needs.
All in all, by the time Horizon OS starts being taken into actual project competition to Galaxy XR, competition will be stiff. Having such an easy platform to develop would today add complementary features to the survival contest of XR singularly in a hardware world.
