The Galaxy Watch 4 software update was to improve system stability and to solve a few bugs. On the contrary, the post-update situation for most users seems to have gone in the negative. There are complaints across many online forums that this update might have triggered some unforeseen change in the performance of the watch. For so many, the two points of complaint are battery drain and sensor malfunction.

Galaxy Watch 4: Battery Drain Experiences
"Battery drain intensification" was how many Galaxy Watch 4 users described their experience after the update. Battery drainage used to last for nearly a day or more but requires almost constant charging now. Most drainage seems to occur during workout tracking, sync notifications, and always-on display use. One other suspect could be some poorly optimized background task or something else causing the problems.
Sensors Going All Haywire
Apart from batteries, heart rate sensors, pedometers, and sleep tracking have also raised complaints. Some say either proper data analysis wasn't being done post-update or in certain instances, it just didn't work for whatever reason, and that is really a big issue for ardent users when it comes to fitness tracking via Galaxy Watch 4. Sensor-related complaints could be attributed to a conflict at the software level or improper calibration.

Prospective Fixes and Update Hopes
Until now, some of the so-called fixes have been reported to work-restart your watch, clear the memory, or even factory reset the phone. The best thing about the fixes was that some worked, and others didn't. Technically, however, an analyst sees down the line that an update will come from Samsung targeting battery optimization and sensor stability. Until then, the remaining users are going to have to keep an eye on their settings and turn off any feature they can do without.
