Foldable smartphones have recently heated things a little bit. Vivo has launched X Fold 5 while Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has been launched by Samsung. Both smartphones, being foldable, carry a premium view of technology, style, and performance. But who's that? Let’s go into detailed comparisons.

Design and Build Quality
The X Fold 5 comes lighter, thinner, and stronger with a hinge mechanism and a titanium frame. However, we have seen an additional flexibility- that is, edge-to-edge FlexWindo, which is somehow covering almost the entire screen-bringing the entire flat display on the cover for the first time in the foldable lineup.
Both get the benefit of water resistance IPX8, but Samsung is slightly more trustworthy in that department.
Display and Visual Experience
The X Fold 5 has an 8.03-inch LTPO AMOLED 2K main display and a 6.53-inch cover display, both with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 sports a 7.6-inch QXGA+ AMOLED primary display along with a 6.5-inch cover display. Samsung's outdoor display features Vision Booster and AI-based brightness adjustment.
Both are great in terms of watching movies, gaming, or multitasking, but FlexWindow is something that sets Samsung just a notch higher for multitasking.
Performance and Software
Both the Vivo Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Huawei X Fold 5 feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for high-end performance. But whereas the Z Fold 7 employs One UI 7 (based on Android 15) with advanced features specifically for foldable devices, the X Fold 5 uses OriginOS 5, which is not awkwardly customized but isn't that functional for the foldable persona.
Camera Performance
The X Fold 5 features s 50MP main, 50MP telephoto (3x zoom), and 50MP ultra-wide with Zeiss optics.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 offers a 50MP primary, a 12MP ultra-wide, and a 10MP telephoto (3x optical zoom). Vivo is a tad ahead in professional photography.

Battery and Charging of Vivo X Fold 5 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7
With 6000mAh of juice, the X Fold 5 boasts 80W fast charging. Samsung Z Fold 7, with its 4800mAh battery capacity and 45W fast charging, brings up the rear. And Vivo's got the upper hand on that.
So if you want long battery life, advanced cameras, and a premium design, you could consider the Vivo X Fold 5. On the other hand, if brand equity, software experience, and folding technology are important, then the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 takes the cake.
Both will be in the race for best foldables in 2025-the decision will be based on your usage pattern and priorities.
