Nintendo Entertainment System had been the best RPG games ever, and some of the games became big franchises that are still going really strong. From the very early days of the NES, there had been multiple RPG games that created history and later on became big franchises.
The first Legend of Zelda title was released back in 1986, and it instantly became a huge hit. It sold a total of 6.5 million copies worldwide, and it was a huge deal back then. With its big success, a sequel was released, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, which was also a big success, selling nearly 5 million copies.

Zelda is not the only RPG franchise that earned its popularity from the NES, there are other titles too that became big successes. Hydlide was rereleased on Nintendo Switch in 2023
But there are some lost RPG video game titles released for the NES that became big hits back then, but they could not survive in the long term. One such title had been Hydlide, which was one of the earliest releases for the NES. The game was a success back then, but somehow it is forgotten today.

Hydlide II: Shine of Darkness will rerelease on Switch on May 22
The success of Hydlide motivated the makers to make a sequel by the name Hydlide II: Shine of Darkness. Today, these games are not much remembered, but back then, these titles were big hits; in fact, they were released on multiple consoles.

Hydlide was ported to Nintendo Switch in 2023 based on the PC-8801 version by D4 Enterprise. Recently, he has been announced that D4 Enterprise will also release Hydlide II: Shine of Darkness on Nintendo Switch. It will release on May 22.
