CastleVania had been one of the biggest video game franchises of the 1980s and 1990s. Since 1986, it has dominated the home video game consoles and also the arcade cabinets. It is still considered one of the best horror video game franchises ever.
The first three video games of the series had been released for NES and all of these three games were massive hits. Apart from the main line releases on the NES, Konami kept on releasing games of this series on handheld devices and also on the Arcade cabinets.
CastleVania Remake is rumored to be in progress
Konami successfully jumped from one console to another and on every early video game consoles they produce some amazing Castlevania games. Apart from the NES, the produced Super Castlevania 4 and Castlevania Dracula X on SNES, Castlevania Bloodlines on Genesis, and of course, Castlevania Symphony of the Night for PlayStation.
There has been no mainline release in the Castlevania series since 2014
All of these games were massive successes. They also tried their luck on Nintendo 64 with 3D graphics much like the other video game franchises were doing, but Castlevania did not work in 3D, in fact it is only exciting when it is a 2D side scroller.

Unfortunately, with time, the magic of Castlevania started to fade away. They remained relevant on the hand held devices like Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS, but they started to get removed from the home consoles. After the release of Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2, the main line entries in the series totally stopped.

There had been rumours of a new Castlevania game every now and then but the fans had to get disappointed only. Recently there has been a new rumour that Konami finally bringing a new Castlevania game in the form of Castlevania Remake. This is only a rumour, however. Since every big company is remaking their top games, Konami may enter the market with a potential CastleVania Remake.
