Sound quality, ANC performance, comfort, and battery life are almost everything one can factor into the headphone consideration. And, indeed, that was done. The QC Ultra Second Generation was compared right away with my own Sony XM6 and the AirPods Max, which all belong to the premium class and hence differences are really, really evident here.

Bose QC Ultra

Sound Quality: Natural would Be Dynamic

Sound tuning is exceedingly neutral, very much not over-the-top, as is the case with QC Ultra 2nd Gen. Vocals and most of the midrange stay demurely clear. The adjustment of the Sony XM6 would probably more tastefully sit with that of its heavyweight camp-shifted towards enjoyment in the realm of EDM or hip-hop. In general, AirPods Max gave a very detailed separation of the sound, which, most of the time, can be judged while listening to lossless tracks in Apple Music. Preference here is totally subjective, but the tuning tonal balance indeed would feel more comfortable listening to long hours.

Noise cancellation: Still The Winner With Bose

In ANC, the QC works far better than any of its competitors. It further eliminates outside noise--that is, sound from noisy metro trains, a busy street or an open-road drive. The Sony XM6 goes really far in cancellation particular in terms of bass noise. AirPods Max, of course, have also great ANC, but in that case, they are just slightly less efficient. For anyone else longing for maximum ANC, it still seems to be Bose, leading the way.

Comfort and Design: Which Best Experience

Comfort comes into play after extended use, and there are predictions to suggest that such preference should incline toward the Bose QC Ultra 2nd generation. The earpads are soft; they are quite light, and they have a balance of the clamping pressure at the moment. The Sony XM6 again stands right and light on the head. A little on the heavier side, so it wouldn't be every man's comfort zone to wear it long, but for myself, I would give a pretty high rating for design to AirPods Max, but Bose is probably the more practical design for everyday life.

AirPods Max

Battery Life and Smart Features: Real Performance

Battery life is where the Sony XM6 really shines. It would play for hours under moderate ANC. The Bose QC Ultra 2nd Generation has reasonable battery backup but is just a notch lower in that context. The AirPods Max have a pretty decent battery, but it is quite advantageous only for the Apple ecosystem users. Sony offers more features and customization options from the app than any other player in the game.

In conclusion, all three pairs of headphones excel in their respective areas. Bose QC Ultra 2nd Gen-best in terms of ANC and comfort; Sony XM6-favored in battery life with bass-heavy sound; AirPods Max-in a utopia of benefits to Apple product users. To whom would the best go: totally dependent on individual needs and preferences.
