BMW CE 2 e-bike manufacturing commences at the Hosur plant of TVS

In a major development meant to carry forward the electric vehicle roadmap, BMW Motorrad, and TVS Motor Company, have started producing BMW CE 02. The stylish e-bike is being made at the Hosur plant of TVS. The e-bike manufacturing also marks 10-year-long partnership between the two automobile companies. TVS also unveiled the 1,50,000th unit of 310 cc motorcycle of BMW Motorrad. So far, 2 auto giants have developed and unveiled five iconic motorcycles including the TVS Apache RR 310, BMW G310 RR and BMW 310 GS.

The bikes produced under the JV have received generally positive reviews from buyers and experts alike. The Apache RTR 310, in particular, has proved to be a huge success. The CE 02 electric scooter is a head turner but not all details on it are available yet. BMW has deployed a powerful 48 V electrical system in it. It offers 2 ride modes- Flow and Surf. Notable features of the e-bike are USB-C charging socket, a keyless ride, a 3.5-inch TFT screen, and LED headlamps.

Both the auto giants are upbeat about the new e-bike. TVS Motor Company’s Director & CEO, Mr KN Radhakrishnan said the decade-long partnership between the 2 entities has been fruitful and the BMW CE 02 will consolidate the relationship further. BMW Motorrad Head, Dr Markus Schramm echoed a similar view saying the production of CE 02 electric scooter is a big milestone for both entities. The e-bike will be sold in Europe initially, as per the company officials.
