Apple's Earbuds First Cheap Competitor - The Reasons Why I Didn't Like Them

Keeping modern styling informed with good credentials on reliability and sound quality, Apple's more recent releases of its AirPods have gained popularity over recent years. But some cheap alternatives began to flood the market in an attempt against the iconic earbuds. One such alternative was recently experienced by the author, but with less than what was expected from an Apple.

In their design style, and on performance basis, this cheap competitor looks a lot like AirPods-same stem design, charging case style. But the moment you hold it in your hand, the kind of plastic it is made of, the finishing, and the feel are inferior. The fit is not quite there, and wearing it for long periods tends to get uncomfortable.

Sound Quality: Not good

This AirPods produce deep bass that is complemented by balanced mids and clear treble; the complete absence of this experience was present from these cheap earbuds. The bass seemed boomy, treble was sharp, and mids seemed to be drowned out.

At high volumes, the quality of sound shattered, and the call quality was horrible; there was no isolation from external noise; nothing could be heard in a crowded city setup.

Battery Life: Poor

This cheap one could last for about 3-4 hours, whereas this ones lasted to the tune of 5+ hours. Case recharging was sort of erratic; at times, the case was unresponsive to charging.

Without App Integrations and Smart Features

One great advantage the AirPods have is that they just drop in and become part of the Apple ecosystem-autoconnect, device switch, and Siri integration, etc. Add this cheap competitor into the mix, which had none of that, and it is often a pain to the teeth due to its erratic connection.

They Don't Match Apple's Experience

A very huge number of consumers would settle for some cheap alternatives due to price constraints; in my view, these products have simply failed to even become contenders vis-a-vis earbuds, which are way ahead of the pack in quality, performance, and user experience. Price might be at times a deterrent; in long-term usefulness, something is to be given to Apple.
