Apple Is Breaking Its Own Rules Regarding The Apple Watch Ultra 3

For as long as anyone can remember, Apple has had a reputation for setting its rules and sticking to them. There was a predictably programmed product launch calendar: year after year, new models of iPhones and iWatches would grace the market every September. This time around, however, it is being whispered that it may just be breaking those very rules about the Watch Ultra 3.

Apple Watch Ultra Series: An Overview

The first series of this iWatch Ultra was released in 2022. It was mainly sold and marketed to professionals in channels of diving, sports, and adventure activities. The Ultra's good looks, wide display, and decent battery life gained lots of attention from techies and aficionados.

Ultra 2 was released in 2023, and with it went the belief that Ultra 3 would be launched next year. This said, reports are now slapping on some delay or even complete abandonment of the Ultra 3 by Apple.

Has Apple Broken Its Own Rules?

It normally lays down the list of rules: A yearly update, a design cycle set at two years, and technological improvements every odd year. Yet, ultra products have no such constraints. The Watch Ultra is sufficiently advanced that yearly updates are not required.

Some more speculation suggests that, eventually, it may abandon the Watch Ultra 3 and prolong the charm life of the Watch Ultra 2. Either due to a lack of any new technology or perhaps delays aimed at getting MicroLED display tech into production, it is just as important for the next lineup of the Watch Ultra family.

What Makes The Shift Interesting?

If it opts not to release Watch Ultra 3, it will ring loud and clear that it does follow the rules after all, but the company reserves the right to set its own rules just as and when it pleases. It signals that it is more for quality than just being seen to launch "new models".

Though the verdict on the Watch Ultra 3 remains pending, it seems pretty clear that it has taken a big hit in bending its release schedule as of late. If something is acceptable to this degree, we might witness an even greater impact in the tech world. A long wait on our part must now start until the Apple Event in September, where they may or may not break their own rules.
