Powerbeats Pro 2 earbuds have an optical sensor based on photoplethysmography used in Apple Watch’s heart rate sensor for heartbeat monitoring. The light-sensitive photodiodes detect the blood flow amount with the help of a flash of LED light 100 times per second. It further helps in calculating the number of heartbeats per minute and gives accurate data on the device without using any other wearables.
