Asus ROG Phone 5 Summary

Asus’s ROG products are designed for serious gamers! Hence, the ROG smartphone aligns with this. What is so exciting about ROG phones is that they are the most convenient gaming smartphones that feature powerful processors and the highest refresh rate. Recently, in March 2021, Asus unveils the ROG Phone 5 series with not one, not two but three models. Out of which one of them is the Asus ROG Phone 5, which we will be discussing in detail!

Display

Asus ROG Phone 5 has a 6.78-inch AMOLED bezel-less display with 1080 x 2448 pixels. The resolution is Full HD+ and the refresh rate is capped at 144Hz. However, the device doesn’t have an adaptive refresh rate, the display panel supports different modes including 144 Hz, 120 Hz, and 60 Hz. The handset also offers a touch sampling rate of 300 Hz and 24.3 ms touch latency. With a peak brightness of 800 nits, the smartphone is 23% brighter and it can be reduced to up to 5nits. Additionally, the device gets a Pixelworks i6 display processor chip that has an in-built AI which suppresses visual noise, improves picture quality, and enhances colours.

Camera

In terms of rear camera, Asus ROG Phone 5 features a 64 MP Sony IMX686 sensor for the primary camera accompanied by a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 5 MP macro shooter. As far as the camera features are concerned, the smartphone comes with a customizable camera UI, 4K slow-motion, 8K video recording, Dynamic Night Mode, Hypersteady Video, Mic focus, Pro Photo, and Video mode. Also, there is a 24MP front-facing camera for clear and sharp video chats and selfies.

Performance

As with previous smartphones, this newly launched ROG phone also gets two prebuilt UI options. This is to let users switch from gaming-inspired ROG UI to a simpler ZenUI and vice versa. Under the hood, the Asus ROG Phone 5 is powered by Snapdragon 888 5G chipset that is, further coupled with Adreno 660 GPU. The processor on the smartphone is paired with 8GB/12GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage. The battery is split into two cells of 3000 mAh each to reduce heating while charging. It also comes with 65W fast charging support.

Asus ROG Phone 5 price is Rs. 49,999 for the base variant (8GB+128GB) while the cost of another variant (12GB+256GB) smartphone is Rs. 57,999.
