Well to be honest this idea of launching a Tri-fold smartphone by Samsung is still a mere speculation and nothing else. There is no way the brand has ever gave any confirmation about this. It is still something that time will answer and nothing to believe right now.
On the other hand it is true that Samsung does have quite a few upcoming models in it's bucket those speak loud about the brand's ambitious vision. XR headsets, AR Glasses are to name from the collection.
Is Tri-fold a Mystery and Nothing Else?

The latest rumour by a site claims that the prototype of the phone is powered by the battery of silicon and carbon. This technology is something Samsung is using for the very first time. This same technology was heard to be used for upcoming Galaxy S26 in 2026; all a rumour though.

Don't get confused with the name of the technology. The Silicon-Carbon technology is nothing but the evolution of the Li-lon technology where it uses silicon anode in the battery rather than a graphite anode. Silicon-Carbon batteries have the capacity to retain more energy than the Li-lon batteries as they have high energy density.
What can be Samsung's Purpose for Switching to this Technology?
One major purpose that can be easily assumed is the motive to reduce the battery size of the tri-fold and not just focusing on increasing the autonomy of the phone. The rumour claims the battery to have less than 5,000mAh capacity.
Manufacturing this handset is definitely a huge task for Samsung as there are several concern apart from the battery thickness. Durability is one such concern along with the design.
Making thinner devices is surely a major field Samsung is focusing on at present and it's upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge proves it all. Even it's Z Fold series also comes under this thinner range.
